WINNER OF THE AILA NSW LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE AWARD 2023 (LAND MANAGEMENT)

Project Overview

Leppington House and Hill Top parks form part of the Willowdale scenic hills trail. The parks and connecting Scenic Trail were designed to provide a versatile series of accessible spaces and trails while maintaining and respecting the natural features of the land. Critically, the design also acknowledges the historical significance of the area with the grounds of Leppington Farm House having been formalised and interpreted and indigenous artefacts found in the area respectfully recognised. PDS collaborated with Council and relevant Archaeologists in the design of the parks and interpretation elements.

The project’s landscape design works included earthworks, new endemic canopy tree plantings, and the integration of native and grasses to complement the existing ridgeline vegetation further enhancing the area’s natural beauty.

The completed parks and trail boast an extensive network of pedestrian pathways and easy connectivity in addition to a hugely popular community garden and variety of recreational amenities catering to different ages and abilities including playgrounds and kickabout lawn areas.
