Saint Kilda resort style living

This large adaptive conversion of a 19 century heritage distillery to an apartment complex was focused around the creation of a vibrant " Resort Style" courtyard that was the central focus of the majority of its residents. After careful climatic analysis and proximity to the ameliorating effect of Port Phillip Bay, PDS had a real opportunity to use luxurious and more tropical style planting in this central courtyard due to a unique microclimate that was created by the building, location and orientation. The courtyard landscapes are inspired by iconic resort landscapes that consist of; beautiful lawns, palm trees, mixed and varied large leafed, often colourful planting. Every effort was put into making this place a special meeting place for a swim, stroll or just to sit on the manicured lawns and catch the sun. The landscape is built above a large basement car park. Issues of privacy and overlooking were resolved by the use of; screening palms, hedges, well placed and designed low residential fencing.
