Greenway local park

A new creek side park emerges

As a central focus of this new planned community PDS was commissioned to design and document all the streetscapes and a central public park. The 1.2 hectare public reserve was designed in association with Blacktown City Council staff and offers the new community informal kick about areas, structured multi aged play and a central sheltered cover space with several BBQ’s and table and seat gathering areas. A central “oval” space creates the focus of the park and is defined by seating mounds, looped pathways and low steps that link the central covered area. A new public toilet facility reinforces the central meeting place of the parklands. An important component of the parklands was the design of informative and historically accurate material concerning Colebee who received the first Aboriginal land grant from Governor Macquarie. Informative totems and pavement inlays tell this fascinating element of history. This work was carried out in association with GML Heritage Consultants.
